Login And Registration

Aardvark allows users to login via a custom login/registration pages or popup windows.

Login Page

Step 1: Create or edit and a page and click the Backend Editor button.

Step 2: Click the Add Element button to open the Elements window and click the Login/Register Form element. Click Save Changes when you’re finished.

Step 3: You can now add a link to the login page to your menu by going to Appearance > Menus and from the Pages tab select this page.

Step 4: To add social login buttons install and activate Super Socializer. Once you enter up your social login details the buttons will automatically display on the login form.

Registration Page

If you are using BuddyPress you will need to use their registration page instead of the theme’s. To do this see the section below.

Step 1: To enable registration on your site go to Settings > General and make sure the Membership checkbox is checked.

Step 2: Create or edit and a page and click the Backend Editor button.

Step 3: Click the Add Element button to open the Elements window and click the Login/Register Form element. Set the Default Display dropdown option to Registration Form. Click Save Changes when you’re finished.

Step 4: You can now add a link to this registration page to your menu by going to Appearance > Menus and from the Pages tab select this page.

BuddyPress Registration Page

If you are using BuddyPress you will need to use their registration page instead of the theme’s.

Step 1: To enable registration on your site go to Settings > General and make sure the Membership checkbox is checked.

Step 2: BuddyPress should have automatically created a registration page for you called “Register”. If not create a new page called Register and then go to Settings > BuddyPress  > Pages and select this page form the Register dropdown menu.

Step 3: You can now add a link to this registration page to your menu by going to Appearance > Menus and from the Pages tab select this page.

Login Popup Window

Step 1: Go to Aardvark > Theme Options > Membership and make sure the Frontend Popup Form option is enabled.

Step 2: Next go to Appearance > Menus and from the Custom Links tab create a new link. Select Login Link from the Menu Type dropdown menu. Set the URL to “#”, give your link a title and click Add to Menu.

Registration Popup Window

If you are using BuddyPress you will need to use their registration page.

Step 1: Go to Aardvark > Theme Options > Membership and make sure the Frontend Popup Form option is enabled.

Step 2: Next go to Appearance > Menus and from the Custom Links tab create a new link. Select Register Link from the Menu Type dropdown menu. Set the URL to “#”, give your link a title and click Add to Menu.

Restrict Frontend Access

Step 1: Go to Aardvark > Theme Options > Membership > Restrict Frontend Access and select the page you want to redirect non logged in users to.

Restrict Backend Access

Step 1: To redirect non logged in users to the homepage and show the login/register popup window before users can access the backend go to Aardvark > Theme Options > Membership and enable the Backend Popup Form option.

Step 2: If you want to redirect users to a specific page instead, disable the Backend Popup Form option.

Step 3: You will now see a Backend Restriction Redirect option where you select the page non logged in users will be redirected to when trying to access backend pages.
